Frequently Asked Questions

How old is a ‘newborn’?

The best age to photograph a newborn baby is ideally under 2 weeks. This is because small babies tend to sleep deeper and are less aware of their surroundings. That’s doesn’t mean that they cant be posed after two weeks, however, they do tend to be easier and sleepier the younger they are.

How long does the session last?

Sitter and Children sessions last approximately 1 hour, my location sessions about 1.5 hours and newborn sessions are approximately  3-4 hours. These are approx times as I understand that all children are individual and I work all my sessions at the pace of my clients.

Why are newborn sessions longer than other sessions?

My newborn sessions usually take around 3/4 hours. This ensures we allow enough time for settling your baby and feeds and changing.  I do not schedule another session on the same day and I will always work at the speed of your baby so sessions are always relaxed and not rushed.

What is the best age for a baby session?

The best age to photograph babies is whenever they reach a milestone – for sitter sessions this is usually between 6-8 months. This is the age where they can sit unaided and may have started to crawl already. They would of started to develop their personalities too, which makes for great expressions and big smiles. The next age, which is also popular is 1 year. These shots could include birthday images and sibling and family shots too. Although this age group don’t tend to sit still for long they are great fun to photograph. After 1 year children have there good and bad days just like the rest of us!

How many people can I bring to my session?

Due to the size of the studio only parents and siblings should be at sessions unless discussed prior to your session or you have booked for a larger family location session. Please do not invite additional people to your session without my prior knowledge. For newborn sessions I ask for only the parents to be present due to the size of the studio and any siblings that are attending. Due to the length of newborn sessions some clients choose to have someone on hand for young siblings to take them home after they have had their photos taken with parents and baby.

What should I wear to my session?

It is best to keep your clothing choices simple, logo’s or busy patterns should be avoided for all my sessions. If you are having family photographs, colour coordinating is highly recommended. With each session booked I will contact you for a pre-session consultation and discuss clothing and colour scheme ideas, however, feel free to bring a range of clothing and we can discuss on the day.

What should we bring?

Please ensure you bring plenty of milk if you are bottle feeding your baby, as well as spare nappies and a dummy if you are using one. For family and/or children’s sessions you may like to think about any outfit changes, a drink, snacks or your child’s favourite toy. We have a wide range of props and lots of outfits in the studio you are welcome to use at your session. It's advised to ensure your child has had a sleep before your session to ensure we have them at their happiest.

Where will our photos be taken? Do you have a studio?

Sessions will be in either my studio or at a location discussed prior to booking.  I have a studio that I work from but this can depend on the amount of people for the session. All newborn sessions are carried out in my studio. Children's sessions can be scheduled in either my studio or on location and with multiple children it is often a good idea to consider location images as this allows them more freedom then in a studio. Once your session date is confirmed we can discuss what type of look you would like for your photographs.

Where is your studio based and is there parking?

My studio is based in the town centre of Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset. There is pay and display parking outside, however this is limited spaces. There is an NCP Carpark across the road from the studio as well as the Sovereign Shopping Centre car Park which is only a few minutes walk away.

When do I pay my session fee?

Your session fee is due at the time of booking. This secures your session date with me and I am unable to hold dates without this. Session fee pricing can be found on my website. This non-refundable payment covers my time and the session itself, along with use of all clothing and props. Products and any collections can then be added after at your viewing and ordering session allowing you the freedom to chose what you would like to order.

When will we get to see our photos?

After your session your images will be professionally hand edited and you will then be invited back to the studio for your personal viewing and ordering session to see your final gallery and choose the images you would like to keep approximately 2 weeks after your session.

When do I pay for my order?

Any orders must be paid for in full before your items are received. Once payment has been made, any digital images and resizing will be carried out, any print orders placed and wall art ordered from our professional UK Lab. Payment plans can be set up for orders, however, full payment is required before final delivery of any high resolution images and printed products.

What payment methods do you except?

Payment can be made via Bank transfer, Cash or card payment.

I want to order Wall art but I don’t know what would look best for my house?

If you would like to purchase Wall art we can look at my studio samples and discuss the best products and finishes for your home. If there is a specific coloured frame or finish you would like then we can discuss this and I can source the specific finish for you. I also offer a personal home visit so you can see how frame colours work in your home and measure up for any artwork you would like framed.

How long will my Wall Art take to arrive?

All wall art is bespoke and handmade to your order specification. Turnaround time may be subject to change based on the characteristics of your photoshoot and payment methods, however once paid in full Wall Art has an average of a 3-4 week turnaround. Once your products have arrived they are checked before you collect to ensure these meet your expectations.

All wall art products are custom made and so are non returnable for exchange unless faulty. High resolution images are non returnable once purchased.

Do I have to purchase any products from you?

No, you don’t have to purchase anything. I do have a minimum spend after your session, which is highlight on each session page, however, it is hoped that you will want to buy something as a memory of your session.

Is the session fee I paid refundable if I cancel or don’t turn up to my session? If you need to change the session date then a minimum of 48 hours notice must be given. If you fail to turn up for your session and no contact has been sent, received and replied to by myself, your session fee payment will be lost and a rebooking session will be at the discretion of the photographer.

What happens if it rains on our location session?

If the weather forecast looks like it will rain on your session date or is raining I will contact you and discuss our options. If so I offer to postpone and rearrange a more suitable time. You will not loose your session fee payment if we have made contact and this has been discussed.

Can I take mobile photos whilst you are in the studio?

I politely request that no cameras are used in my sessions to take photos of the shoot. This includes mobile phone cameras, ipad cameras, standard cameras and any other recording devices. A lot of time is taken to set up, pose babies and engage with children in sessions. Secondary devices are not a true representation of my work and can be a distraction to the people being photographed.

Can I put my photos on my social media accounts?

If you see your images on my social media business pages, please feel free to tag yourself. If you have placed a digital order then once received you can of course upload to your social media accounts. Your images have been creatively styled and edited in my chosen style and as they are a reflection of my worki it is asked that you do not digitally enhance them in any way. This includes adding filters and other graphics. Sharing is also caring so it is always nice if you are able to mention Coralie Kyriacou Photography when you do share them.

How long will my images be kept for?

Images that haven’t been paid for are kept backed up for a minimum of 3 months. All images that are purchased from sessions are kept and stored for 2 years. If you do not purchase your files Coralie Kyriacou Photography cannot be held responsible for any lost or damage of file data.

Where do you get your images and products produced?

I use the best professional photographic lab and framing company in the UK, which produces the highest professional quality finish and products.
